The Women & Public Policy seminar brings you behind the scenes of official Washington, introduces you to women policymakers and allows you to observe the system at work. This program is designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and tools necessary to be an effective leader in the policy arena. The program also connects you to a supportive network of women leaders who will help open doors and act as role models and mentors, offering ongoing advice and support. |

Through discussions about how Washington really works and briefings on current events and issues, students learn how policy is made and implemented on the national level. Speakers are women leaders from the Congress, courts, executive agencies, media and policy research and advocacy organizations.

Half of the seminar sessions are devoted to panels, discussions, and briefings. Other sessions will involve field visits at various organizations and agencies.
Credit
Students may earn up to 3 credits for the seminar from their home institutions. The seminar provides a minimum of 25 hours (contact hours) of formal instruction.
Location
The seminar meets in downtown Washington, D.C. locations, near government agencies and Metro subway stations.
Registration Fee :
There is a non-refundable registration fee of $40.
Seminar Fee :
$200 for Students from PLEN Member Institutions
$250 for Students from PLEN Associate Member Institutions
$330 for Students from Non-PLEN Schools

These fees do not cover expenses for transportation and most meals. Seminar housing is available for an additional cost.

PLEN has negotiated a discount rate with the Carlyle Suites Hotel, located in the Dupont Circle area of Washington, DC. Please do not contact the hotel to make a reservation; PLEN will make the reservation for you.
