Discuss policy issues such as human rights, international development, security and trade with women leaders in government and non-governmental agencies who are making and influencing policies that affect the global community.

Program Fees

Registration Fee:  
There is a non-refundable registration fee of $40. 

Seminar Fee:  
$170 for Students from PLEN Member Institutions
$210 for Students from PLEN Associate Member Institutions
$280 for Students from Non-PLEN Schools

The program fee includes the opening night dinner These fees do not cover expenses for transportation and additional meals.  Seminar housing is available for an additional cost.

PLEN has negotiated a discount rate with the Carlyle Suites Hotel, located in the Dupont Circle area of Washington, DC. Please do not contact the hotel to make a reservation; PLEN will make the reservation for you.

Meet with women who are making and influencing US foreign policy both inside and outside government to discuss a range of issues, including human rights, women's equality, the environment and conflict resolution. 

Wednesday  
9 : 00 a . m . - 5 : 00 p . m
Day at the US State Department  
Discuss a variety of international policy issues with women leaders in the foreign and civil services at the US State Department.  Learn more about careers in the US Foreign Service from women foreign service officers. 

Thursday  
9 : 00 a . m . - 4 : 00 p . m
Explore issues and careers with women working on international policy in Congressional offices and at various federal agencies. 

Friday  
9 : 30 a.m. - 12 noon  
Attend a panel discussion on preparing for your career in international affairs.  Discuss graduate study, internships and other career issues with women at various stages of their careers. 

Content :  The seminar will feature speakers representing organizations such as the United Nations, the US Agency for International Development, the US State Department and various non-governmental organizations.  Issues that could be discussed include arms control, development, international health, the environment and global women's rights.
